Dr. Nagendra Sharma |
Dr. Nagendra sharma born on 5th September 1943 in a farming community of District Nalanda , Bihar. Dr. sharma has joined as Vice Chancellor of Sher-e- Kashmir university of Agricultural Sciences and technology of Jammu ( SKUAST-J) in December 2004 and continue upto 5th September 2008. Before joining to SKUAST –J, he was working as Director and Vice Chancellor of National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI- Deemed university) under India Council of Agricultural Research( ICAR) Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Dr. Sharma has remained a reputed scientist, outstanding teacher and Science manger. He is having distinction of working as Director of two National Institutes(NDRI, IVRI) and one Central Institute (CIRG) under ICAR. He is known and respected Scientist and contributed more than 200 hundred research papers in national and international Science journals of repute. Upto Ph. D degree he studied in various universities of India and earned his Doctor of Science (D.Sc) from France. His research in the field of lipid chemistry, bio-chemistry, cholesterol reduction, meat and milk processing are acclaimed through out world and for his scientific achievements many prestigious award have been confered upon him. He also worked in many international organizations like FAO,UNDP,WHO and participated or headed many scientific delegations to USA, UK, France, Denmark, Germany ,Sweden, Mozambique, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. He is member of many professional bodies and worked in many committees of Agriculture, Education, Health , accreditation of universities , Institutes etc. |

Dr.Prakashkumar Rathod Assistant Professor Department of Veterinary and A.H Extension Education, Veterinary College, Bidar, Karnataka & Former Visiting Scientist, Research Program Asia, International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Patancheru, India Dr. Prakashkumar Rathod (B.V.Sc & A.H., M.V.Sc., Ph.D) graduated from Veterinary College, Bidar in 2008 and completed his M.V.Sc in the discipline of Veterinary and A.H ExtensionEducation from Mumbai Veterinary College, Mumbai (MAFSU, Nagpur) in 2010. During his Masters research, he has worked with the members of producer organizations (dairy cooperatives) to know their perception towards livestock service delivery and the functioning of dairy cooperative in Western Maharashtra. During his M.V.Sc studies, he was awarded JRF from ASPEE Agricultural Foundation, Mumbai. Further, he has also qualified in University Grants Commission, New Delhi-JRF and Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi-SRF examination for his Ph. D studies.He is bestowed with Jawaharlal Nehru Award for P.G. Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Researchin Agricultural and Allied Sciences-2016 (Social Sciences) by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi for his innovative Ph.D. research of field and policy relevance on need for strengthening “Livestock Innovation System (LIS)” in India. Dr. Prakash is presently associated with Department of Veterinary and A.H Extension Education, Veterinary College, Bidar, Karnataka (https://www.kvafsu.edu.in/vc_bidar/home.html) from November, 2011. He is involved in UG & PG teaching, research activities and Extension activities like training, demonstration etc. of the institute. He has also guided four M.V.Sc students as advisory committee member and has been the external examiner and question paper setter for UG and PG of various colleges and universities across India. As a researcher, he has been Principal Investigator (PI) for three Projects and Co-PI for two projects which also include the funding support under World Bank Funded- KWDP II – Sujala III Project, Karnataka Livestock Development Agency, SCSP-TSP Grants of Government of Karnataka etc.Majority of these projects aimed to improve the livelihood of the farmers through scientific livestock interventions and the same has been published through different research papers and conference/seminar presentations.Dr. Prakash was also associated with International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Patancheru, India ( https://www.icrisat.org/ ) as Visiting Scientist from March, 2018 to March, 2020 and looked after livestock interventions in seven projects based at Karnataka, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. As an extension professional, he has organized/coordinated about 20 training programmes/workshops for officers of Development Departments funded through MANAGE, Hyderabad; ICAR, New Delhi, Government of Karnataka, ICRISAT, Patancheru etc. Further, he has also organized/coordinated about 70 training programmes, 75 demonstrations and tenMelas/exhibitions for the benefit of farming community. Also, he has participated as a resource person in various extension activities organized by other organizations. He has published 45 research papers in high quality national and international journals apart from about 28contributions in the form of training manuals, compendium, book chapters, folders etc. He has also edited about 20 different documents like training manuals, practical manuals, annual reports, compendium, proceedings, books etc. Being a social media savvy person, he has developed and published various online resources like you tube videos, slide share PPT, blogs, good practices etc. which are for open access. Dr. Prakash is also a member of various professional societies and reviewer of various national and international journals. In recognition of his academic and professional excellence, he is bestowed with four best paper presentation awards and One Best Poster Presentation award at XII Agricultural Science Congress-2015 organized by ICAR-NAAS at ICAR-NDRI, Karnal. Further, he has also received Young Scientist Award, Best Student award, Ganga Singh Chauhan Memorial Award etc. by various professional societies and organizations.
