LIST OF IMPORTANT INTERNATIONAL DAYS AND WEEKS IN VETERINARY, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, AGRICULTURE & ALLIED SECTORS
The International days are occasions to educate the general public on issues of concern, to mobilize political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity. Each international day offers many actors the opportunity to organize activities related to the theme of the day. The United Nations International Organizations; The offices of the United Nations system, and most importantly, governments, civil society organizations, the public and private sectors, schools, universities and, more generally, citizens, to make an international day a springboard for awareness-raising actions.
The majority of the UN observances have been established by resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, although some have been designated by UN specialized agencies. The United Nations also observes International weeks. anniversaries; International years, International decades of key events in its history.
International Days and weeks are celebrated in order to promote awareness of that specific day through actions taken by concerned Organizations, Governments of the Countries. These events are commemorated by the United Nations’ specialised organisations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, etc. when they relate to matters that lie under their purview and it needs special concern to preserve and protect.
Sometimes, some specific days are also declared by the Governments of the Countries which are mainly celebrated in that country for awareness. In this article, we covered all the International and National Days which are celebrated every year.
