VCI Election-2024- National Panel fights for a corruption-free VCI

Presently, Veterinary Council of India election is scheduled on coming 8^th June, 2024 for electing 11 members to represent Veterinary Council of India (VCI), New Delhi. A group of enthusiastic veterinarians including brilliant academicians, field and senior veterinarians having national level institution educational background have formed a team of National Panel, which has made their mandate for changing status quo of veterinary profession in India. The National Panel convener and candidates are fighting this election with honesty, integrity and courage with a difference to clean and to make corruption free VCI. The thoughtful revolution based leader and convener of National Panel, Dr. Sawarkar Surendra, who is presently working as Associate Professor in Gujarat state said that he and his team is highly optimistic to change VCI in all the ways in education and practice and to cater hassle free professional services to all India Veterinarians. Since last VCI election-2020, Dr. Sawarkar is continuously fighting at Govt. level and in the Hon’ble High Court of New Delhi (W.P.(C) 683/2021 against the illegalities happened in last VCI election to get direction from judiciary to make fair VCI election in all over India so that all registered veterinarians can vote secretly for choosing their best representation in VCI. At present, Hon’ble High Court had re-notified hearing on 16-10-2024. Dr. Sawarkar said that the last VCI body headed by Dr. Umeshchandra Sharma was not able to propose required rules for conduct of transparent VCI election process. Due to lack of coordination of VCI and state Veterinary Councils, the present electoral roll does not content many mobile numbers and complete absence of email addresses in electoral roll which is hampering the communication system with voters, which are the major failures of last VCI body. In veterinary education system, the last body had implemented Minimum Standards of Veterinary Education-2016 consisting of Annual Board Examination System by replacing previous MSVE Regulations-2008, which were based on Semester Pattern system. At present again, VCI body is going to implement Semester Pattern system in Veterinary Education, which is a biggest disappointment for education system and veterinary students’ community is treated as an ‘Experiment’. These frequent changes in education system is a complete failure of last VCI body headed by Dr. Umeshchandra Sharma and his team. To tackle with such professional hurdles, revolutionary thought based, National Panel has designed a manifesto in such a way, which can cater justice with common veterinarians of our country.

Implementation of IVC Act, 1984 in toto
Strengthening services of VCI and state veterinary councils
Check over on illegal practices of quackery in veterinary field
Emphasis on transparency in VCI election
Implementation of NPA and all promotional benefits (DACP, CAS)
Inclusion of veterinary services in Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA)
Emphasis on employment opportunities for veterinary graduates and post-graduates
Establishment of Indian Council of Veterinary Research (ICVR)
Emphasis on vets’ status parity with medicos in all aspects (internship, post-graduate stipend, pay roll etc.)
Recommendation of Indian Veterinary Services (IVS) and upliftment of different cadres
Emphasising the pet animals’ polyclinics and research centres pan India
Safety measures for lady vets and their proper representation in VCI
Protection of Vets during practice in the field and in hospitals
Control on privatization of Vety. services and education

Dr. Sawarkar Surendra, is a revolutionary leader in veterinary profession since his student’s days who had historical background. He made historical fight (195-97) in Maharashtra state for implementation of Indian Veterinary Council Act-1984 during student’s life. He had also made a historical fight on road against recruitment corruption (450 posts) of MAFSU, Nagpur by taking the support of RTI act and compelled the then Governor to suspend the then Vice-Chancellor, 5 Directors and Registrar of the university, in 2009. In Maharashtra and Gujarat state, Dr. Sawarkar had removed non-vets from veterinary colleges with consistent communication with university and professional bodies. For this kind of activities, Dr. Sawarkar was pained so many times throughout his entire career. In this VCI election, Dr. Sawarkar appealed to voters to think with their internal voice to vote independently and without coming to anybody’s influence, for betterment of future generation of veterinary profession. Dr. Sawarkar urged to voters to elect Convener and his panel candidates with huge margin of votes for change VCI and to save VCI.
