Introduction
India’s poultry farming industry has undergone significant structural changes, becoming a more organized and commercialized sector. According to recent data, India ranks third globally in egg production and fourth in chicken meat production, contributing significantly to the economy and rural employment. The increased demand for affordable poultry products, coupled with the pressure to maintain environmental sustainability, has led to the adoption of various technological innovations and practices. This article will highlight these innovations and practices, illustrating how they have transformed the landscape of Indian poultry farming.

1.Genetic Improvement and Breeding Technologies

1.1Selective Breeding for Enhanced Productivity:

Genetic improvement has been at the forefront of transforming poultry production around the world. Over the years, the Indian poultry industry has benefitted from selective breeding programs that focus on producing birds with enhanced growth rates, feed conversion efficiency, disease resistance, and egg production capacity. The use of hybrid vigor has led to the development of highly productive breeds, such as the ‘Vencobb’ broiler and ‘BV 300’ layer . These breeds not only show superior performance but also adaptability to different climatic conditions.
