Dr Rana Preet Gill, a veterinary officer, was on Wednesday honoured by the district administration, Hoshiarpur, for her contribution towards the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme of which she was nominated as the district’s coordinator. She has been working with the area’s women and child development cell for the past three years and also spearheads the campaign of women empowerment in by giving lectures on women emanicipation in the programmes conducted. She has also been vocal about various issues related to girl child and female foeticide in her writings. Her articles and short stories have been published in many national newspapers, including The Tribune, and also in international journals.
