Animals have become an integral part of the human cultural world. The main ways in which they are being used include food, materials, test objects, entertainment, and sports. So, the animals are being used in a variety of practical and non-practical ways. They are a large focus of the art world as well, with artists, sculptors, writers, and photographers having animals as the center of their work. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we encounter animals every day.
Over the years through having pets, the source of interaction with the animals has increased on a more intimate level. Pets have part of our everyday lives and part of our families. They provide us with companionship but also with emotional support, reduce our stress levels, sense of loneliness, and help us to increase our social activities and add to a child’s self-esteem and positive emotional development.
Two of the most popular pets choose by people are dogs and cats. Other animals commonly kept include rabbits, ferrets, pigs, rodents, such as gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, rats, mice, and guinea pigs; avian pets, such as parrots, fowls etc.
There are plenty of reasons of getting a pet and this is a great idea. Not everyone understands the bond between human and the animals, though, or even realises how much pets do for their owners.

1. HEALTH BENEFITS:

People with pets find lower heart rate, blood pressure than those without a pet. Pets benefit one in your family by helping to minimize the likelihood of heart failure, as one can continue exercising with his dog and a close relationship with the pet can lead to more activity and a safe heart and happier life.

2. COMPANIONSHIP:

We interact with several people in life. Many people come and go in our life. Many become our new friends, and many leave us. Sometimes there can be entry of unwelcome companion i.e. solitude, which could lead to depression and physical or mental problems. Pets do not allow solitude to enter in our life, Pets never become inaccessible or out of service.

3. EXERCISE:

People enjoy regular exercise but its very difficult for them to set up a routine and they skip it very soon. By having a companion like pet makes them get out of bed early and helps them to set up a routine of fitness schedule and supporting to improve the outdoor sports.

4. SOCIAL LIFE:

Having a pet helps one to make more friends and increase social circle as dogs are curious about their surroundings and act as a stimulus for ones interaction as many people are interested in knowing about the dog and playing with him.

5. RELATIONSHIP:

Owing a pet improves the partnership status of partners and families as a family with a pet appears to have a lower blood pressure and healthier than other people as it makes one a stronger individual and more loving.

6. RESPONSIBILITY:

Animals teach us a sense of responsibility that teaches us how to help others and how to stay grounded. It also teaches children that someone depends on them for their basic needs.

Having a pet dog makes the owner feel safe and secure. Some dog breeds (German Shepard, Rottweiler) are loyal, responsible, caring and protective instinct.

8. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

Animals have a very playful nature and are hyperactive and helps children to remain busy with them and keep them away from electronic gadgets as being busy with the electronic gadgets imparts negative effects on their health and mind. They also increase their knowledge when they go to the veterinary doctor for regular body checkup. Dogs also inculcates caring nature in family specially kids.

9. BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND SPEECH ABILITY:

Often people lose confidence because they felt insecure about talking to people but as dogs are good listeners and interacting with dogs helps them to build confidence and speech ability.

10. LOWER STRESS LEVELS:

Modern life is stressful and high levels of anxiety can lead to numerous health problems. Luckily, pets can really help us relax as playing with them can make one’s worries melt away.

11. IMPROVING IMMUNE SYSTEM:

Pets spend a lot of their time outside and when they enter home, they bring some of the germs and microorganisms with them inside. The additional germs can help one to boost their immunity to cold or other mild illness. It has been observed that children who grow up playing with pets experience fewer infections and are generally healthier than those who do not.
Animals teach us selflessness and true affection for ourselves and for children and dog keeps children healthy and occupied because it is the enjoyable way to work out and lose weight.

Pets play an important role in improving our day to day life from social life to health, by lowering stress from daily hectic work and improving social skills. They also help in building a great life making us responsible and a sense of caring and building a strong relationship in couples so for good health which have less stress and more enjoyment one should have a pet. ‘Pets are not our whole life, but their contribution is very much in our daily life’.
