Call for Nominations: Ahilya Bai Holkar Award 2025 for Outstanding Women Agro-Vet Professionals
Pashudhan Praharee, a leading platform in the livestock and veterinary sector, has instituted the Ahilya Bai Holkar Award from 2025 onwards. This prestigious award aims to honor and recognize the contributions of outstanding women agro-veterinary professionals who have made exemplary contributions to their respective fields and have had a significant positive impact on society.

Pashudhan Praharee, in collaboration with Agro-Vet Research and Development Foundation, Livestock Institute of Training & Development (LITD) , and channel partner Goel Vet Pharma, invites applications for the Ahilya Bai Holkar Award from lady AgroVet professionals. The award will be presented on International Women’s Day, 8th March 2025, to recognize inspiring women who have significantly contributed to the agro-veterinary sector and made a meaningful impact on society.

Brief Biography of Ahilya Bai Holkar
Ahilya Bai Holkar (1725–1795) was a legendary ruler of the Malwa region in central India. She is renowned for her administrative acumen, justice, and deep commitment to social welfare. Born in 1725 in Chaundi (present-day Maharashtra), she was married to Khanderao Holkar, the heir of Malwa’s Holkar dynasty.
After her husband’s demise, she took charge of the kingdom following the death of her father-in-law, Malhar Rao Holkar, in 1767. Ahilya Bai proved to be an extraordinary leader, known for her:
- Good governance and justice: She implemented policies that strengthened agriculture, trade, and infrastructure.
- Philanthropy and social reform: She constructed numerous temples, dharmashalas, wells, and public works across India.
- Promotion of Women’s Empowerment: Unlike many rulers of her time, she encouraged women’s participation in administration and social development.

- Eligibility: The award is exclusively for women professionals in the agro-veterinary sector.

- Selection Process: A distinguished jury panel will evaluate all applications and take the final decision.
- Submission Deadline: The last date for entries is 7th March 2025, by 5:00 PM.
- Award Presentation: The award will be conferred on 8th March 2025, International Women’s Day.
- Disqualification: Incomplete applications or those not meeting the criteria will be disqualified.
