In India, livestock sector play a major role to increase or double the farmer’s income, as around 70% livestock population is controlled by the landless, small and marginal formers, which paly a major role in our society. It is not possible to increase income if our farmers work on old concept or old mind set. Farmers adopted new coming technologies and think “How to increase social status in term of income” When our farmers think about himself then change occur and definitely increase the income and achieve the target goal. For achieving the target farmers/Animal owner always think ………..which type of animal kept, survive in local climatic conditions, less input and got maximum output.(Farmers plans in such a way)
Government schemes or plane are very good, local area wise if government make a plane or climatic condition wise make the plane which are more success, for this knowledge of the local environmental conditions, Soil Ph, water level, food habit of animal, availability of pasture land (known the grass, good for animal health), there is record of total numbers of animals (breed/ species/ sex wise), in unfavorable situation to fulfill the feed requirement of animals, these all the things kept in mind then plane the scheme or rear the animals.
Introduction
Livestock sector work as an engine for agriculture growth, if farmer’s lost in crop production which is managed by livestock and not much more effect on owners livelihood. Farmers are depends upon the both agriculture and livestock, so work on both sector. But due to urbanization agriculture lands are decreases and farmers move to livestock sector and in coming days maximum numbers of farmers totally depends upon the livestock. So farmers are trying to adopt multidisplinary work.
How to change
- Farmers side
- Rearing of good quality / productive animals and keep their progeny record.
- Both type of animals reared by the farmers, large (Cattles/ Buffaloes) and small animals like sheep/ goat.
- As per capacity or availability of fodder crops rear the animals and before keeping, insure their ration in adverse climatic situations.
- Always give the food as per scientific formulation for milking, pregnant and draft animals to save wastes of ration and also help the animals body growth.
- Make a trend to castrate the male animals which are not have good progeny record.
- Artificial insemination is done by good quality semen, this is also help to animals owner to save money and to controlled the infections which are transmitted male to female at the time of service.
- Not purchase the animals from one state to another, such purchase animals not survive / comfort due to environmental difference. For this go to up gradation of local breed by Artificial insemination. This technique also saves money.
- If you want to male or female used the sex sort semen. This may control the numbers of animal population.
- Farmers adopted intensive farming system. This help to change the farmer’s economic status.
- Uses the fecal materials in biogas/ in fertilizer/ manure or ethan purpose or sell it with good price.
- Now a days cow urine is also selled because of their medicinal properties. Farmers think about this.
- Goat milk is very important having more properties in comparison to others, Now a days some industry come foreword to packaging the goat milk and their cost is much more because of it is not easily available in urban areas, so farmers think about this, for change their income.
- Always try to keep the animals healthy, for this time to time deworming and vaccination is done this is most important to animals owners to save the treatment cost .
- Insurance of animals and agriculture land (Both), to save the farmer’s incomes in adverse conditions.
This above all the point kept in mind and a farmer’s think as a businessman. Then changes occur.
- Government side
- Government thinks the farmers basic requirement and make the scheme in ground level, local requirement, and local availability for best.
- Government increase funding, subsidy and bank loan.
- Fodder and feed development- fodder development programme along with fodder bank should be designed in every tahsil/district.
- Building dairy cooperative network like AMUL.
- Promoting Quality Livestock Products.
- Organized slaughtering facilities.
- Public-Private Partnership (PPP)
- ICT-based Agriculture Extension.
- Women livestock Producer Training
- MSP for Livestock Products
Government makes a good scheme and incorporate in field level and farmers adopt such scheme then economy of the farmers is absolutely changed.
Conclusion
Agriculture and Veterinary scientist and our new generation farmers, move foreword take risk because without risk no gain. Our system adopted the village and make a model to others. In model village government or private angio organized kishan mela/gosti/ chaupal in which, different village farmers participate, open discussion is there, in what difficulties and solution, Both (Male and female)the involvement is essential, in such a way to work on all the field of agriculture and allied subjects which changes the local farmers condition and upgraded the income.
