Dr. Amitav Bhattacharyya:

Dr. Amitav Bhattacharyya (Ph.D.) has 12 years of professional career dedicated to research, education and administration. He joined as a Teaching Associate during October, 2007 and thereafter has been working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Poultry Science, DUVASU since July, 2009. He started his professional education in 1995 from Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology,Bhubaneswar. Then, he did his M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. from IVRI in the year 2003 and 2008 respectively and worked on in ovo technology for turkeys in India. He has been instrumental in developing UG and PG teaching and practical manuals. His innovative research has resulted in more than 141 publications in journals of international and national repute, bulletins, book chapters, scientific reviews, and conference proceedings.. Besides, 1 book, 13 popular articles and 07 chapters in a book have also been contributed. He has handled various research projects on poultry. He has been project investigator of five research projects
His field of interest has been to work on a wide range of issues in poultry nutrition according to the need of farmers and industry. Presently, he is actively involved in teaching and research activities of undergraduate and post graduate students along with extension activities pertaining to popularization of turkeys as a part of diversified poultry farming in India. He has worked as reviewer for various international and national journals such as Journal of Animal Physiology and Nutrition, Journal of Applied Animal Research, Indian Journal of Animal Science, Indian Journal of Animal Research, Veterinary World, Indian Journal of Poultry Science etc. He has attended and presented research papers in various national and international conferences. Dr. Bhattacharyya has been bestowed with twenty four awards/recognitions of different national professional societies. He was conferred with ‘Fellow Indian Poultry Science Association’ during 2019. He has attended two advance trainings relevant to field of Poultry Nutrition and Management in the year 2012 and 2018. He was selected in Youth Programme of European Poultry Congress, Verona, Italy, 2006.
He has guided 05 MVSc students and currently 03 students are working under him. His students have worked on phytobiotics and trace element supplementation in poultry. He has been in the advisory committees of more than 16 MVSc students and 02 PhD students. He has been involved in designing UG and PG syllabi and organization of various training programs for field veterinary officers
He has been external examiner and question paper setter for UG and PG of various colleges and universities such as RAJUVAS, Bikaner, CSKHAU, Palampur, NDVSU Jabalpur, OUAT, Bhubaneshwar, MAFSU, Nagpur and many more.
Dr.Amitav is also associated with the magazine Pashudhan Praharee as Head of the Editorial pannel.On behalf of Team “Pashudhan Praharee” we wish Dr.Bhatacharyya a very successful tenure for his new assignment.
