Punjab’s Director Animal Husbandry Dr Inderjeet Singh was on Thursday chosen as new vice chancellor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana.
The decision was taken in a meeting of senior functionaries, including Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry, and other officials.
Dr Singh who is currently serving as Director, Animal Husbandry, Punjab, is a known scientist in the field of veterinary sciences. He hails from Haryana and joined Animal Husbandry Department as director in 2018.
Before joining Punjab, Dr Inderjeet worked as a Principal Scientist at ICAR-Central Institute for Buffalo Research, Hisar.
His major research interest focuses on the study of ovarian physiology in relation to fertility and infertility in buffalo and its manipulation for optimisation of reproductive efficiency of the species.
Dr Singh, who has around three decades of experience in the field of veterinary sciences, said that though his focus will remain on improving academic quality, research work and strengthening extension activities, he will also try to help the government in formulating policies regarding the problems being faced by the farmers, including stray cattle.
