Dr. R.K. Goel Memorial Excellence Award in Veterinary Homeopathy – 2025
ENTRIES INVITED FOR Dr.R.K GOEL MEMORIAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE IN VETERINARY HOMEOPATHY ON WORLD HOMEOPATHY DAY -2025
World Homeopathy Day is celebrated on April 10 every year. This day aims at marking the importance of homeopathy and its contributions to traditional medicine. This day also honors the memory of Dr. Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann — the founder of homeopathy. Samuel Hahnemann was born in 1755 and grew up in Meissen in Germany. He received his medical degree in Erlangen in 1779. Homeopathy comes from ‘homeo’ and ‘pathos,’ Greek words. Homeo means similar and pathos means suffering or disease. One of the most striking features of homeopathy is that it was described as quackery, irregular, fringe, or complementary and alternative medicine (CAM.)

Pioneer of Homeopathy in Veterinary in India
23 June 1943 – 25 May 2005
Dr. R.K. Goel was a pioneering figure in veterinary homeopathy in India, dedicating over three decades to integrating homeopathic principles into animal healthcare. After earning his Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (BVSc & AH) from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi University, Jabalpur, in 1967, he furthered his expertise by studying homeopathy for two years at the Royal Homeopathic College in Lucknow.
Throughout his 33-year tenure in government veterinary services, culminating in his role as Deputy Director, Dr. Goel developed effective homeopathic treatments for various animal diseases, including mastitis, foot-and-mouth disease (FMD), hemorrhagic septicemia (HS), and meningitis.
In 1977, driven by a commitment to animal welfare and the potential of homeopathy, Dr. Goel, along with co-founder Dr. (Mrs.) Sushma Goel, established Goel Vet Pharma Pvt. Ltd. This venture aimed to provide natural, safe, and cost-effective veterinary medicines, addressing the limitations and side effects associated with conventional treatments.
Under Dr. Goel’s leadership, Goel Vet Pharma emerged as a trusted name in veterinary homeopathy, offering a range of products that gained acceptance among veterinarians and animal owners. The company’s dedication to quality and research has contributed to the broader acceptance of homeopathy in veterinary practice, aligning with global efforts to promote sustainable and holistic animal healthcare.

History of World Homeopathy Day
The founder of homeopathy was Samuel Hahnemann, a French physician, scientist, and great scholar. During his first 15 years as a physician — while struggling desperately to make a living — he made a discovery. He believed that if patients had an illness, they had to be given the ingredients that induce symptoms of the said illness to cure the disease. Thus, if a patient was suffering from severe fever, he was given a medicine that in a healthy person would provoke a high fever. Hahnemann claimed to be able to compile a selection of appropriate remedies, by a process he called ‘proving’. This gave rise to a famous aphorism “like cures like.”
Homeopathy remedies are made with natural ingredients since they come from plants, minerals, or animals. Examples of these ingredients are red onions, arnica (a mountain herb), poison ivy, stinging nettle, white arsenic, and crushed whole bees. To determine a treatment for a person not only will a homeopath consider detailed pathology but also all of the person’s symptoms including physical, mental, or emotional. This is one of the things that make a difference between traditional medicine and homeopathy — as homeopaths hold long consultations lasting at least an hour with their patients.
Homeopathy is used to treat a variety of diseases, for example, allergies, migraines, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, and premenstrual syndrome. According to the “National Institute of Health,” more than six million people use homeopathy to treat specific health conditions in the U.S., and over 200 million people use homeopathy on regular basis worldwide.
WORLD HOMEOPATHY DAY 2025: ROOTS IN INDIA
World Homeopathy Day is observed in India under the guidance provided by the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India(GOI). Homeopathy is regarded as one of the most prevalent medicinal systems in India. These medications are said to be safe to take without any side effects.
Dr. Samhuel Hahnemann was a famous scientist and physician who introduced homeopathic medicine. The best part of his research is based on the process of self-application. He performed all his experiments on himself. Later he began researching the effects of cinchona medication. Following his investigation, he concluded that the cinchona medication can cause malaria-like symptoms in a healthy human body and recommended Homeopathy as an alternative medicinal method.
Hahnemann was a medical doctor, who later abandoned his profession to become a translator. He then studied numerous languages from medical and scientific texts, including English, French, Italian, Greek, and Latin.
WORLD HOMEOPATHY DAY 2025: SIGNIFICANCE
World Homeopathy Day is marked to understand the challenges faced and the potential outcomes for treating any disease through homeopathy. The goal of the day is to enhance awareness of homeopathy as a medical system and work towards enhancing its success rate.
Homeopathy is an alternative medical practice that normally works by activating the patient’s natural healing processes. It holds that every ailment may be cured by inducing symptoms similar to it using natural chemical dosages.
WORLD HOMEOPATHY DAY 2025: THEME
The theme of World Homeopathy Day 2025 is “One Health, One Family,” with the goal of promoting evidence-based homeopathic therapy for the health and welfare of the entire family through local physicians.
The homeopathy, the modern, scientific medicine which is not new, not changing every few years, where the scientific principles underlying homeopathic practice have not changed for over two hundred years. In fact, during these two centuries, homeopathic physicians and veterinarians have utilized these medical theories successfully time and time again. We see that the original principles, as espoused by Samuel Hahnemann, have been refined by subsequent generations of practitioners, but they still remain as true today as when they were first written. The foundation of homeopathic medicine is solid.
Homeopathy is very much a modern medicine, in fact ahead of its time—the first scientifically based studies of medicines were carried out on homeopathic medicines. And homeopathy has the ability to touch the patient’s deepest self, helping them to return to good health. This is medicine of the future, available now! It can do this not only for one individual, but also for a group of animals suffering from the same disease—and it does this in a non-toxic way without depleting natural resources. Homeopathy is scientific, natural, effective, and environmentally friendly.
