The five basic products which we get from Cows are called Panchagavya. They are the Milk, the Curd, the Ghee, the Dung and the Urine of the Cow(Gomutra). These elements have the power to cure many diseases. All mixed or some times alone are the best naturally available medicine. This increases resistant power, rejuvenates the cells, can control cancer, and reduce dosage of antibiotics. This can cure many diseases. This is very good pest repellent also. Cow provides manure and makes the soil rich with fertile. Dung can resist harmful radiations. This contains earth friendly microbes, which is essential for agriculture. In Ayurveda most medicines are made from Panchagavya. According to true cow based economy, dung and urine are the major source of economy; next comes bullock energy followed by the milk. But due to over importance to milk in these days, the Indigenous breeds are facing extinction.
Panchagavya will be the Future of the Modern Science…Because Allopathy has no complete cures available for any disease. Panchagavya will play the leading role to cure any kind of disease from the roots…It just works on your DNA…It brings you out of Your Karmas and lead you to live such a Blissful life and towards enlightenment of one….It has power to raise your physical, psychological and Spiritual capability.
It detoxifies and decalcifies your internal system and makes it so strong which miraculous effects on one.
Panchgavya is having quality to improve the productivity of primary sectors like agriculture and animal husbandry apart from protecting environment, human treatment. However, it is rejected as myth or mythological adventures by certain section of people in India and abroad because of it lack validation of procedure, product and international recognition. It is therefore necessary to blend science to make awareness among the people worldwide. Such a blending has resulted in US patents. Grant of a U.S. Patents to Panchgavya products has given the ultimate stamp of approval for Indian since the livestock sector has great potential for poverty alleviation utmost importance should be given for future research in this field.Although, this NDA govt. has realized the importance of our indigenous cattle breed lastly and has come up with no of schemes based on it.now it is the responsibility of we vets to carried forward the precious treasure of India through proper scientific based documentation related to Panchagavya in order to get it patent internationally.

Physico-chemical properties of Panchagavya revealed that they possess almost all the major nutrients, micro nutrients and growth harmones (IAA & GA) required for crop growth. Predominance of fermentative microorganisms like yeast and lactobacillus might be due to the combined effect of low pH, milk products and addition of jaggery/sugarcane juice as substrate for their growth.
The low pH of the medium was due to the production of organic acids by the fermentative microbes as evidenced by the population dynamics and organic detection in GC analysis. Lactobacillus produces various beneficial metabolites such as organic acids, hydrogen peroxide and antibiotics, which are effective against other pathogenic microorganisms besides its growth. GC-MS analysis resulted in following compounds of fatty acids, alkanes, alconol and alcohols.
Fatty acids Alkanes Alconol and Alcohols

Panchagavya for animal health—

Panchagavya is a living elixir of many micro organisms, bacteria, fungi, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, known and unknown growth promoting factors micronutrients trace elements antioxidant and immunity enhancing factors.
When taken orally by animals and human beings, the living micro organisms in the Panchagavya stimulate the immune system and produce lot of antibodies against the ingested microorganisms. It acts like vaccine. This response of the body increases the immunity of animals and humans and thus helps to prevent illness and cures disease. It slows down the aging process and restores youthfulness. The other factors present in Panchagavya improve apetite, digestion and assimilation and elimination of toxins in the body. Constipation is totally cured. Thus the animals and humans become hale and healthy with shining hair and skin. The weight gains are impressive.

Pigs—

Panchagavya was mixed with drinking water or feed at the rate of 10 ml – 50 ml/pig depending upon the age and weight. The pigs became healthy and disease free. They gained weight at a faster rate. The feed to weight conversion ratio increased tremendously. This helped the piggery owners to reduce the feed cost and to get very good returns due to increased weight.

Goats and Sheep—–

The goats and sheep became healthy and gained more weight in a short period after having administered 10 ml to 20 ml Panchagavya per animal per day depending upon the age.

Cows—-

By mixing Panchagavya with animal feed and water at the rate of 100 ml per cow per day, cows become healthier with increased milk yield, fat content and SNF. The rate of conception increased. The retained placenta, mastitis and foot and mouth disease became things of the past. Now the skin of the cow is shiny with more hair and looks more beautiful. Instead of spraying urea on paddy straw (hay) before staking, a few farmers sprayed the 3 percent solution of Panchagavya, layer after layer during the staking and allowed it to ferment. The cows preferred such hay compared to unsprayed hay stock.

Poultry—-
When mixed with the feed or drinking water at the rate of 1 ml per bird per day, the birds became disease-free and healthy. They laid bigger eggs for longer periods. In broiler chickens the weight gain was impressive and the feed-to-weight conversion ratio improved.

Fish——-

Panchagavya was applied daily with fresh cow dung in fish ponds. It increased the growth of algae, weeds and small worms in the pond, thus increasing the food availability to fish. The only precaution is that fresh water must be added to the ponds at frequent intervals. Otherwise, the growth of algae, weeds and other organisms will compete with the fish for available soluble oxygen in water. Alternatively, mechanical agitators can also be used to increase the oxygen content in the water. In ten months time each fish grew to a weight of 2 to 3 kgs. With reduced death rate of small fingerlings and increased weight of marketable fish, the fisheries became more profitable.

The importance of Panchagavya :-

In Sanskrit, Panchagavya means the blend of five products obtained from cow. Panchagavya is made from five products of the cow — its dung, urine, milk, ghee and curd.

1. Godugdha (Cow Milk):

• Cow milk mentioned as best milk among all
• As per Ayurvedic classics cow milk is useful in various disease as well as it increases Vital energy and immune power of the person.
• Chemical composition wise it is having fat, carbohydrate,
minerals, calcium, Iron and Vitamin B.
• Stroncin : a contain from cow milk provides capacity for resist body again atomic radiation.
• Another contain Cerebrosides having good ability to improve and regenerate brain cell.

2. Goghruta (Cow Ghee) :

• Best among all kind of ghee
• As per Ayurvedic classics it is useful in various kind of systemic, physical and mental disorders as well as it sustain the age for long time and delayed genetic condition and maintain body biochemistry in it’s optimum level (means increases Ojas)
• Gau ghruta also improves environment. When it is used in Yajna. It improves the level of oxygen and Ozon gases in surround aeas.

3. Gomutra (Cow Urine) :

• Total 8 type of urine are explained for medicinal purpose, among those Cow urine is best.
• Anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal property is found in it.
• It is also having anti-oxidant and immuno modulator property which is very much useful for auto immune disease which are increasing now a day.
• In classics there are so many references available where cow urine is mentioned as a drug of choice. Internally as well as externally too.
• In it also having germicidal property and it might be the chief reason why Gau mutra were used as a holi content on each and every occasion.

4. Gomaya (Cow Dung) :
• Gomaya is considered equally holi content as Gau mutra and it is used to purify the environment.
• Cow dung has radium and it checks the radiation effects.
• Various internal and external meditional use of cow dung are seen in classic.

5.Curd is a byproduct of cow milk. All the leading practitioners of Ayurveda, including Charaka and Sushruta, have written on its qualities and usefulness. It is considered as one of the most wholesome food items throughout the world. Curd has its therapeutic value in many diseases. It has been described as a tonic and is credited with the properties that prevent premature aging. Curd also brings relief to patients of diarrhoea and dysentery and is recommended in chronic specific and non-specific colitis

FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OF PANCHAGAVYA—

Several practical trials of Panchagavya by several institutes at different places of India and abroad has shown the following activities scientifically in Panchagavya ,some of them are as follows

Growth Promotor—–

Better body weight and weight gain in panchagavya fed groups (7.5 and 10.0 g/kg) at 4 weeks of age in broiler may be due to its probiotic effect accomplished by presence of Lactobacillus organism in the curd, as a component of panchagavya. Similarly, supplementation of panchagavya at 7.5 g/kg of broiler diet had significantly better FCR than control diet (Mathivanan et al., 2008). Garg et al. (2004) reported that the cow urine has capabilities to potentiate the egg production of the birds and it can be used as a feed additive for layer birds in order to get good quality eggs.

Hepatoprotective—–

Feeding of panchagavya significantly reduced the serum Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alkaline phosphatise (ALP) activity in commercial broilers. However, feeding of panchagavya did not significantly influence the serum Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) as compared to virginiamycin fed diet broiler groups. Achliya et al. (2003) also reported that Panchagavya Ghitra administered for 7 days on alternative days markedly prevented the CCl4 induced elevation of serum AST and ALT in albino rats, which indicated the hepatoprotective activity of panchagavya.

Immunostimulant—–

Panchgavya, which has been tested by various workers for its immunomodulatory properties and have been reported that it enhances both cellular and humoral immune response (Chauhan et al., 2004). US Patents to Indian Scientists on Cow urine therapy made realize that all traditional practices from Indian systems of medicine have a strong scientific base. The cow urine, the best therapy that can cure disorders, is non-toxic and can be obtained free of cost trough domestication of cow.

Antimicrobial Activity—-

The current study evaluated its use in microbiological medium.10µl, 100µl, 500µl and 1000µl of Panchagavya mixed with 1.5% water agar medium and after sterilization, incubated at room temperature. After 5 days of incubation, the initial lower dilution showed 100% fungal growth and middle dilutions showed moderate growth. Though higher dilution axes the significant fungal growth, but sticks the identical bacterial colonies and even no bacterial growth on 10 µl, 100 µl and 500 µl concentrations indicates less growth promotional and more antifungal source. According to these data, the higher dilutions of Panchagavya are promising source for simple and naturally derived less expensive bacteriological media with antifungal effect with growth promotion (Baby Joseph and Sankarganesh, 2011). The major antimicrobial proteins lactoferrin B present in cow milk has specturm against various fungal species and it inhibit the environmental fungal flora (Mete et al., 2009). This multifunctional protein whose most important role appears to be as a defence mechanism against a broad range of microbial infections (Meisl, 2005). Subramaniam (2005) found no growth of E. coli in milk culture after addition of panchagavya in an in vitro study. However, the in vitro antibacterial sensitivity test conducted by Mathivanan et al. (2006) with panchagavya did not have direct antibacterial activity against the intestinal organisms of broiler chickens.

Probiotic—-

The curd and buttermilk are enriched with a lot amount of lactic acid bacteria. The presence of lactic acid bacteria also produces antifungal metabolites, e.g. cyclic dipeptides, phenyllactic acid, proteinaceous compounds, and 3-hydroxylated fatty acid was recently reviewed (Schnürer et al., 2005).

Antioxidant——

Among naturally occurring antioxidants, both water soluble and lipid soluble antioxidants are present. The major water soluble antioxidants are glutathione, α- lipoic acid, ascorbic acid, polyphenols and bio-flavanoids while lipid soluble antioxidants are vitamin E, α-lipoic acid, co-enzymeQ10, polyphenols and bio-flavanoids. Free radicals are generated in both aqueous and lipid portions of intracellular and extracellular environments; so it is crucial for the body to have a combination of water soluble and lipid soluble antioxidants to acquire the full range of protection. Some types of antioxidants are synthesized by the body while others are obtained from external sources like food, nutraceuticals.
