Karnataka: Rs 30 crore Compensation for Death due to LSD
State Animal Husbandry Minister of Karnataka Prabhu B. Chavan on Monday informed the media, that a grant of Rs.30 crore has been released for compensation to cattle owners whose cattle died due to lumpy skin disease(LSD). Compensation money will be transferred directly to the bank account of the cattle owners. As per reports about 17,000 cattle have died in the state due to LSD.
In a media release in this regard minister Chavan informed, that a grant of Rs. 30 crores has been released to compensate for the cattle death to avoid financial loss to the owners of cattle. He said that earlier a grant of Rs.2 crore was also given to combat LSD.
Minister Chavan informed that a maximum compensation of Rs 20,000 per cow and Rs 30,000 per bull and Rs 5,000 per calf will be given as compensation to the cattle owners whose animals died due to LSD with effect from 1st August 2022.
As per reports, so far approx 2 lakh cows are infected with LSD in the state, out of which 1.50 lakh cows have recovered. The rest of the heifers are being given appropriate treatment by the vets.
