11.As I said previously there are many FIELD VETERINARIANS doing wonderful jobs not just treating animals but working tirelessly for welfare of society. Yes of course you have to find them. Let’s today talk about DR. MANDEEP SINGH ..VETERINARY OFFICER OF PUNJAB STATE… now posted at CVH.. Village..Panj Kosi …Dist.. Fazilka. When he was posted at village Mahni Khera .. Distt Muktsar he worked tirelessly in collaboration with police and civil administration to educate youth against drug abuse. In collaboration he set up a farmers club …Bhai Ghanayia ji. Through this club NABARD supported farmers in various activities. Then IFFCO adopted Mahni village for three years for various activities. With the help of NESTLE and Deputy Director AH DR. Vinod Gupta marketing of milk was solved to a great extent. A lot was done to solve problems of farmers related to cheap and quality animal feed . Got PAU to adopt the village to increase per acre yield with judicious use of fertilizers and pesticides. The club also purchased BT cotton sowing machines and then rented to farmers on a very nominal rates. The club organised kisan melas for benefit of farmers related to agriculture and animal husbandry. Various companies provided financial assistance for the noble cause. The then CM of Punjab was so impressed with the activities of club that grant was given to construct a seminar hall of 2400 sq feet from where to conduct activities. 12.WATER SOLDIERS OF HISAR ..Haryana. India..AS a hindi news paper wrote JAL YODHA. My undergraduate class fellow of 1969 pass out of BVSc&AH bach from Hisar Vety College now in LUVAS.. Dr. Satish Kalra Retd Professor of Vety Microbiology who along with his friend a Retd civil engineer Mr. Vijay Prabhakar spent money from their pension to create a unique water harvesting system so that many parks and roads of Hisar city of Haryana are not flooded .. roads are not damaged and the technique evolved can recharge ground water with clean water. In parks they created 12 wells for rain water harvesting. It is estimated that in first rain this season 12 lakhs of water was harvested. Municipal corporation engineers have now approached these wonderful persons to guide them with their technique to implement the same in and around 25 more parks. Both of them did this job under VANPRASTHA DIGNITY TRUST created by them and their friends. They have organised seminars to request others to follow suit. As per them creating of each well to harvest water in one created well to recharge ground water just cost 20 to 30 k rupees and 3 such wells can cover about 500 acres of land for ground recharging. 14. Unsung great surgeon… Great Dr B. Prasad.

It took me few days to get this photo of a great veterinary surgeon to whom I am indebted lots in terms of professional and technical learning. I still feel all those needle pricks in my fingers when I made even a small mistake while assisting him in any surgical procedure. He came in my life at Hisar. I was a Master’s student and he came from Bihar to do PhD. He taught me a lot at that time and then when I was an assistant prof at Ludhiana.. now GADVASU… and he was Assoc Prof. He was an excellent surgeon a great clinician. He served subsequently as Prof and HOD in that dept while I came back to HAU. His last assignment was Dean Faculty.. RAU.. SAMASTIPUR….BIHAR. Very few members of Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery may remember him now because he never bothered about being projected as a stalwart or for various awards. However Dr Prasad Sir you are the person who taught me a lot and many others true professionalism. I know you are not on Facebook and will never read my these sentiments .Saluting Sir. Wish many of younger generation has teachers like you. He is now settled in Patna.
