List of General Antibiotics being used in veterinary Treatment Purpose in India
Antibiotics are agents with biological activities to kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria. Ever since antibiotics were discovered more than eight decades ago, they have been used widely in modern medicine and are extremely effective against bacterial infections, which once used to be major cause to morbidity and mortality. Antibiotics are not only used to treat bacterial infections in humans, but also used to protect the health and welfare of animals.
Type of Antibiotics
Bacteriocidal Antibiotics -Antibiotics that kill bacteria include aminoglycosides, beta lactams, fluoroquinolones, glycopeptides, lipopeptides, nitroimidazoles and nitrofurans.
Bacteriostatic Antibiotics-Antibiotics that inhibit bacterial growth include glycylcyclines, lincosamides, macrolides, oxazolidinones, streptogramins and sulphonamides.
In India, Thausands of Veterinary Pharmaceutical companies are there having different brand names of different antibiotics. Here are a short list of few companys who are dealing with antibiotic for animals. This is for a ready reference to the Regd. veterinarians. There may be changes in trade name, doses indications of the drugs depending upon the ongoing research in veterinary science. Before using this reference table please do confirm personnaly from a reliable sources.
