ABSTRACT:

A 3 MT.Capacity of production per day Mineral Mixture plant has been established at Nirmal, Telangana through the subsidy extended by Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Utnoor, Adilabad District to an identified Tribal Joint Liability Group of members. They are marketing the Mineral Mixture in the name of GIRIVIJAYAMIN. Project was grounded with the initiative of Sri.VarunReddy,IAS., then Dist.Collector, Nirmal, Sri.Adhar Sinha,IAS.,Spl.CS,AH,DD&F and Smt.Ch.Laxmi,IAS., MD,TSDDCF. In the State of Telangana, this is the first Mineral Mixture plant in cooperative sector established through tribal JLG under MSME plan scheme of ITDA,Utnoor and is an excellent example of convergence between Cooperative Dairy and District administration.

INTRODUCTION:

Dairy cattle and buffaloes require a number of dietary mineral elements for normal Body maintenance, growth and reproduction. Deficiency of minerals in the ration of animal impairs metabolic function, which effect the growth in young calves and milk production and reproduction efficiency in adult animals. Supplementation of bio available minerals through mineral mixture is of paramount importance, as minerals are nowhere synthesized in animal’s body. Animal cannot synthesize minerals inside its body and usually feeds and fodders fed to the dairy animals do not provide all the minerals in the required quantity. Therefore, animal should be supplemented with adequate amount of good quality mineral mixture in their ration.

Level of minerals in feeds and fodder varies from region to region, thus mineral availability to the animal also varies. So, it is necessary to produce region specific mineral mixture accordingly.

Off late, the demand for Area Specific Mineral Mixtures (ASMM) has increased tremendously due to need of Improved growth rate of calves, hence early puberty, Improves reproduction efficiency in male and female animals, Reduce inter-calving period leading to more productive life of animals, Improves efficiency of feed utilization, Improves milk production and SNF content of the milk, Better immune response; hence better resistance against diseases.

PROJECT OVERVIEW AND KEY OBJECTIVES:

  1. To prepare and market area specific mineral mixture in the name of

GIRI VIJAYA MIN.

  1. To handover the maintenance of the plant to tribal JLG.
  2. Reaching the target of milk production in Telangana in coordination with TSDDCF and AH Dept.,by way of bringing awareness among milk producers about benefits of its usage along with feed concentrates.

FUNDING:

Rs.22.0 Lakhs only were sanctioned by Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Utnoor,Adilabad district,Telangana, under MSME Plan scheme for operational maintenance of the plant through tribal JLG, which was established in the TSDDCF, Vijaya Telangana unit premises at Nirmal. Another Rs.29.0 lakhs are met from (Crucial Balance Funds) CBF for civil structures.

METHODOLOGY:

Five tribal youth already engaged in dairy field were identified and a JLG (Joint Liability Group)was formed. The JLG firm was registered under Society Act with Registration No.119/2023 under partnership deed and necessary PAN number was also obtained. The JLG members were sent for ten days training through ITDA at Neovet Formulations, Hyderabad for learning the process of manufacturing Mineral Mixture. The JLG members have placed purchase order for plant and machinery and taken hand hold support of nutritionists of Neo Vet Formulations, Hyderabad. At present, as per the formula arrived by NDDB on mineral mapping, the premix with certification is obtained, packed at Nirmal and marketed.

FINDINGS:

  1. Increased milk productivity with available livestock.
  2. Livelihood to tribal JLG.
  3. Preparing the standard formulae for ASMM under the guidance of technically sound VAS through DVAHO.
  4. The ASMM will be marketed through VDCs/DRDO manpower on commission basis.
  5. So far number of farmers purchased Girivijayamin MM:1333
  6. The total animals in milk in Adilabad dist: 2,27,327; milk production:90.08 Tonnes, which comes to av. of 4 Lit/animal.
  7. Any incremental increase in milk production will be beneficial to the farmer as well as to the Dairy.

Hence, the idea of introducing quality Mineral Mixture has emerged to use along with Vijaya cattle feed.

Before usage of MM by Sri.Poshetty, dairy farmer,Babapur Village,Nirmal District.

  • Milk yield: 8 litres per day • Fat%: 3%
  • Price received: Rs.39.75 ps.per litre
  • Total milk price: Rs.318/- per day
  • After usage of MM in 30 days:
  • Milk yield: 9.8 LPD • Fat: 3.9%
  • Price received: 42.90 ps.per litre
  • Total milk price: Rs.420.42/- ps. Per day

Net additional income to the farmer: Rs.102.42 ps. per day on usage of Mineral Mixture.

CONCLUSION:

At present, certified premix of Mineral Mixture as per formula is obtained from Neovet Formulations, Hyderabad and is being packed at Nirmal in 1.5 kg packs so as to serve an animal for one month @ 50 gms.per day. In future, once stabilised, ingredients will be obtained and ASMM will be prepared and marketed by building sufficient capacity to the tribal JLG members.
