NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNICAL SEMINAR ON POULTRY CONDUCTED SUCESSFULY IN PATNA UNDER THE AEGIS OF IPJA

Under the aegis of the Indian Poultry Journalist Association (IPJA), A one-day national seminar on poultry management was held at the Maurya Hotel in Patna. The seminar saw participation from many renowned poultry experts from across the country. Representatives from leading companies associated with the poultry industry and approximately 400 poultry entrepreneurs from across the state attended the seminar. Representatives from major organizations promoting the poultry business in India, such as the Indian Poultry Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (IPEMA), Poultry Federation of India (PFI), and Poultry India, discussed their organizations’ objectives and their work for the development of poultry.
Senior officials and scientists from Venky’s India, the largest company in the country’s poultry sector, delivered lectures on poultry management. The special guest, Dr. J.K. Prasad, Dean of Bihar Veterinary College, shared his thoughts on poultry management.
Dr. Shirish Nigam, President of INFAH, emphasized that to bring the Indian poultry market to the global level, poultry production must adhere to international standards, which would allow the country to make a mark in the global market. He addressed the issues of antibiotic resistance and zoonotic diseases, urging all poultry farmers to adopt innovations in poultry management to achieve greater profits in the business.
Dr. Pawan Kumar, President of the Bihar Poultry Farmers Association, detailed the success of the poultry industry in Bihar and called for the government and industry-related organizations to take necessary steps to further accelerate the poultry industry in the state. He noted that Bihar ranks second in the country in maize production, yet the poultry entrepreneurs here benefit the least. To address this, poultry farmers must organize, and the government should provide basic facilities to help the industry flourish in the future.
The Bihar Poultry Farmer Organizations and the Indian Poultry Journalist Association honored 10 progressive poultry farmers from Bihar. It is surprising that only 10% of the demand for eggs and poultry chicken in Bihar is met by local production, with the remaining 90% being supplied from other states. This statistic clearly shows the immense potential of the poultry industry in Bihar, which has emerged as a significant means of livelihood.
Mr. M.K. Vyas, Secretary of the Indian Poultry Journalist Association, mentioned that their organization conducts seminars on poultry management for the benefit of farmers, featuring poultry experts, to promote the poultry industry across various parts of the country. Dr. Shirish Nigam, President of INFAH, stated that their organization would soon make high-quality poultry medicines, feed additives, poultry feeds, and vaccines available in the country to provide maximum benefits to farmers.
Mr.Uday Singh Bais promised to the poultry entrepreneurs of Bihar on behalf of IPEMA that their organization would ready to raise any issues or problems associated with poultry development before Govt.agencies if needed. He told that in order address the malnutrition problems in childrens in Bihar there is an urgent need of provision of eggs on daily basis in MDM and Anganbari .He also reiterated that IPEMA will engage their activities in promoting Eggs and chicken consumption in the state.
Mr. Uday Singh Vais, President of IPEMA, and Mr. Ricky Thapar, Treasurer of the Poultry Federation of India, assured layer farmers that the rumors regarding battery cages would soon be dispelled, and the government, considering farmers’ interests, would take concrete decisions soon. They assured that their organizations are making significant efforts toward this goal. During the seminar, the nodal officer for poultry from the Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Bihar, elaborated on the ongoing government schemes related to the poultry industry.
Dr. Dhirendra Kumar, Technical Advisor of Vesper Group, discussed the problems encountered during production in poultry farms in Bihar and provided tips to poultry farmers on how they can protect their farms from potential diseases by adopting modern techniques at a low cost. He emphasized the importance of biosecurity for every poultry farmer.
