The Supreme Court issued a notice to the Center and all the states on a petition, in which demand for a ban on the indigenous breed of cow etc. has been sought. A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra, on the PIL filed by Mathla Chandrapati Rao, demanded all the states to close the illegal slaughterhouses and file a compliance report before the Supreme Court.
Referring to a report submitted recently by the Acting President of the National Commission of Animals, Justice Guman Lal Lodha to the Government of India, the petitioner has said that this report has expressed serious concern over the slaughter of milch cows and calves.

– Non-judgmental issues will be issued to take necessary steps to conduct research to improve indigenous cattle milk production.
