ORGANIC TREATMENT OF INFECTIOUS CORYZA

IC is an acute respiratory disease cause by bacteria.The bacteria multiply with time under favourable conditions when left untreated. It it’s characterized by inflammation mucus membrane of the nose passage and sinuses.

Infectious coryza is caused by several factors which include;

– Poor management

Poor management conditions like wet litters bring about build up of heat underneath the wood shavings thereby creating a favourable conditions for the bacteria to dwell, flourish and multiply.

– Ammonia

Wet shavings generate heat that irrigate the eyes increasing the susceptibility of the bacteria and since the bacteria is air borne, they r suspended in the air and r breath in by the birds.

Its therefore very necessary to ensure changing of wood shavings not less than every 6 days.

– Consumption of feed/ water contaminated with bacteria.

– Through contact from infected birds.

SYMPTOMS

– Swelling of the head especially around the eyes

– Mucus discharge from the eyes and nose

– Sneezing, rale

– Greenish diarrhoea

– Drop in egg production ( layers)

ORGANIC TREATMENT

– Lemon—30ml

– Honey—30ml

– Garlic—-8g

– Ginger—-8g

PROCEDURE

— Measure the required quantity of honey into a container

— Squeeze lemon into it

— Crush/ grind your ginger and garlic and add into it

— Stir together thoroughly,

— Measure 250 ml of water and add to the mixture

— Pick the affected bird one by one and administer

— After treatment, Serve them their normal water

EXTERNAL TREATMENT

— After the administration of the herbs, apply vaselin on the shut eyes

NOTE;

Treatment should be done in the morning after feeding, ensure there is feed in their crops b4 administering, repeat the same administration in the evening(5pm), then serve them their normal water. This will help to free the passage of clogged air space, bronchi from mucus.
