TIPS FOR BECOMING SUCCESSFUL POULTRY FARMER
- You should have adequate money to store all feed ingredients in harvesting season.
- Broiler above 15000 birds & layer farmers above 30000 should have his own feed plant.
- Broiler farmer should ensure his own supply chain or retail counter & layer farmer should also have direct egg marketing.
- Farmer should be able to spend 5 to 6hours in a farm.
- Any compromise on feeding space, watering space, ventilation, litter depth, room temperature will reduce performance so never compromise on vaccination & management practices.
- Never divert money earned from poultry to other business & try to improve its efficiency by setting up poultry nutrition lab at farm level.
- Do not copy the design of poultry farm from others. Your area may have different specification.
- Adopt modern technology like space heaters instead of bukharis (saw dust heaters) cause respiratory problems & low humidity in shed.
- Your farm should have one 54” fan for each 30000 cubic feet area otherwise you may suffer from respiratory diseases.
10.Since mycoplasma is everywhere especially in India farmer should give monthly course of Antimycoplasma drugs once in month in layers & 3,12,& 18 days in broilers as per the problem.
11.Never purchase chicks from long distance & they should be transported at 30 to 32 degree Celsius.
12.Chicks below 35 gm in layers & below 40 gm in broiler do not perform well & should be separated at day old & given extra vitamins and nutritional full diet .
