GOOD MANGEMENT PRACTICE FOR SUCESSFUL DAIRY FARMING
“Developing livestock is developing the nation” saying this for successful dairy farming we requires extensive knowledge and tons of patience, and detailed business plan is the key to success. Dairy farming is not business it is building block of life, and its passion. For successful dairy forming we shouldn’t work till the sun goes down, but we work till the job done.
Dairy farming is only for the people who are passionate about it requires time and lots of patience to be successful in dairy farming. For good Dairy farming we start with the small scale, in village level farmer should have its own land and minimum 4- 5 animals. From this we produced milk and milk product like [ghee]. Initially start with the low investment and get the achievements from this we slowly growing up on dairy farm we certainly learn discipline and a commitment to purpose. What we are, what we have to achieve in dairy farming, when we start with own land means investment is reduced for constricting the dairy farm and growing fodder. For labor, farmer and his family is working initially in small scale means labor cost is reduced. In dairy farming every day is challenged we get different problems and situations, and solve the problem and learn the how to handle the situation. Small scale or large scale successful dairy farming we should fallow the good management practice, certain rules and regulation should be fallow.
- Selection of good dairy animal, and its gestation length, heat period, management of calf , care pregnant cow, lactating cow ,handling of parturition ,
- The between calving interval and conception dictate calving interval have a large impact on future milk production, hard structure and availability of replacement of heifer.
- Former should know the reproductive cycle, heat period and when to do Artificial insemination , natural mating , ( after the calving4 or 5th month should be conceive)
- Feeding practice balanced nutritious diet should be given {roughages and concentrates} {dry and green fodder}, silage and hay.
- Disease management ex: mastitis, maintain the udder clean. Hygiene management. Avoid giving raw rice and wheat.
- Dairy Waste management like used for biogas production and used as natural fertilizer.
- Watering facility should be proper, and vaccination of dairy animals
- Management cold stress
- Marketing of milk and milk products, 2 way we do, dairy collection unit and directly to the consumers it is better to create market on your own, then ordinary selling milk to dairy collection unit. My advised is we may get profit when we supply milk to coffee shops, hotels
- Record keeping: is very important objective of dairy farm. From this we understand the present and past things about dairy from .and we predict the future .from this we try future is better than the the past. In record we we keep data of whole dairy from it should includes all related expenditure of dairy form (constriction of shed, parchaging animal cost , feed cost)
- Pedigree reproduction, total animals list, total calf present, dead animal, sick animal, milk production daily report, etc..
- Record helpful to assess loss related dairy farm so that after words he can able to correct it and avoid future losses.
When we look at dairy farming in India the success that millions of farmers achieved under operation flood programmed (white revolution) and there after strong milk and milk product brands like Amul and mother dairy, etc. this proves the fact that dairy farming is very profitable business to start. Dairy forming is not easy it take more time, patience’s. During small scale dairy forming every situation handling capacity we learn. In small scale 5-10 year experience we know something about dairy and handling the situation. And slowly yearly one animal should increase in shed from this dairy form is increasing strength and increasing the production. When we experienced small scale dairy then think for the next level large scale dairy farming before entering to business collect the information about large scale dairy farming by attending the workshops and take the experts suggestion, and some failure dairy farm owner experience because we can’t do that mistake agene. Every Successful story have failure is the base .we learn more thing from failure story. Starting the large scale dairy we improve our skills increasing the advance techniques like milking machine implant in dairy. In dairy every day is new and we learn something new in every day , every business has risk, if we have attitude of risk bearing then we can achieve everything in life it take more time don’t lose hope , dairy farming is 24 hr service and need individual attention then we get profit, for successful dairy farming good management should be there for good management good experience should be there . For good experience start with small, means lower step and achieve the higher by increasing the step by step. Every step is new learning way in dairy farming.
