World Veterinary Day 2023: Theme, history, significance and all you need to know
World Veterinary Day is observed with the aim of marking the importance of veterinary doctors around the world. Here is all you need to know about the day.
World Veterinary Day is celebrated on the last Saturday of April. The day is observed to mark the importance of veterinary doctors who serve to protect animals. These veterans work on improving animal lives and thus human lives.
On World Veterinary Day, veterinary organisations worldwide hold events and activities to increase awareness about the significant work that veterinarians do and to celebrate their contributions to society.
WORLD VETERINARY DAY 2023: THEME
The theme of World Veterinary Day for 2023 is ‘Promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusiveness in the Veterinary Profession’.
The well-being of all veterinarians is enhanced when diversity, equity, and inclusion are promoted and applied. Every year, World Veterinary Day has a different theme selected by the World Veterinary Association to spotlight a specific aspect of veterinary medicine.
WORLD VETERINARY DAY HISTORY:
The World Veterinary Association (WVA) established World Veterinary Day in 2000 to recognise and promote the role of veterinarians in safeguarding the health and well-being of animals, people, and the environment.
WVA awards individuals or organisations that have made significant contributions to veterinary medicine and animal welfare in addition to celebrations and events organised by veterinary associations and organisations all over the world.
